December 2019
It’s amazing what (or in this case, who) you can find online! We first swiped right in Dec 2019. Emma swiped first, Jo was too busy enjoying the lead up to Christmas so it took her 3 weeks to swipe right too and match!
January 2020
Our first date was on 11th January 2020 at the Arnolfoni. Emma nearly missed it as she had gone swimming and forgot the time! Jo got there first and was so nervous she dithered about which table to sit at and proceeded to do musical chairs – moving table three times. It was an amazing night. Conversation and gin flowed so easily we felt that we had known each other for ages. Don’t ask about the vodka we accidentally drank. We both wobbled off that night and shared our first kiss at the bus stop on Anchor Lane.
The second date was the next day and then before we knew it we were seeing each other most days. It was wonderful, exciting and so so easy!

March 2020
Fast forward to March 2020…and we all know what happened then…the pandemic. Emma suggested to Jo that she comes to stay for 2 weeks and bubble. We all genuinely thought that first lockdown would be so short! And, of course, it wasn’t…
For the next two years we got used to working, teaching and studying from home but we also did Christmas in July (just because), made a mini Glastonbury in the garden and spent many nights toasting marshmallows, watching stars and taking our regulatory hour’s exercise.
Like every couple we’ve had our fair share of challenges, but whatever life has thrown at us we’ve faced it together.

July 2026
Emma’s proposal was magical. Much more magical than Jo’s…who decided that in the car on the way to the tip one day was the time to do it! A wonderful weekend in London seeing Ludovico Einaudi (who you’ll definitely hear a few times today!) made for the most beautiful proposal. A handmade musical ring box, a handcrafted platinum and diamond ring, a private moment of celebration overlooking the Thames…utterly perfect.
Which leads us to today, our magical place by the sea saying ‘I do’ surrounded by you, our favourite people.
